Edgar S. Kentner (1850-1925) was born in Boardman, Ohio, and died in Kearney, Nebraska. He owned a series of general stores and was a livestock dealer and sheep feeder. He was also a member of the Masonic order. In 1880 he married Mary Jane Kentner (b. Harris) in Avoca, Iowa, and they moved to Westside, Iowa. Around 1895 they relocated to Kearney. In 1886, while staying with the Kentner family in Westside, Kentner's sister-in-law Ann Eliza "Lisle" Harris wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to inquire about studying with her, but the records do not reflect that she ever did so.
