Edgar S. Kentner (1850-1925) was born in Boardman, Ohio, and died in
Kearney, Nebraska. He owned a series of general stores and was a livestock dealer and
sheep feeder. He was also a member of the Masonic order. In 1880 he married Mary Jane
Kentner (b. Harris) in Avoca, Iowa, and they moved to Westside, Iowa. Around 1895 they
relocated to Kearney. In 1886, while staying with the Kentner family in Westside,
Kentner's sister-in-law Ann Eliza "Lisle" Harris wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to inquire
about studying with her, but the records do not reflect that she ever did so.
