Thomas à Kempis (c. 1380-1471) was born in Kempen, Germany, and died
            in Zwolle, Netherlands. He was a German-Dutch canon regular of the late medieval period
            and is best known for his Christian book, 
The Imitation of
              Christ. He was a member of the Modern Devotion, a spiritual movement during
            the late medieval period.
