George W. Johnson (1838-1897) was a lifelong resident of Canaan, Maine. He was a merchant and an active member of the community, serving at different times as a justice, selectman, and postmaster. In 1886 he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy on behalf of Olive Weymouth, who had not received an order for some of Eddy's writings.
