Ella A. Johnson (b. Freeman) (1845-1935) was born in Indiana and died in Los Angeles, California. She married William Jewell, a bank teller, in Indiana in 1863. He passed away in 1889, and in 1894 she married Walter A. Johnson, a mail carrier and Civil War veteran, in St. Paul, Minnesota. They lived in Minnesota through 1900, and by 1910 they were living in Los Angeles. Johnson (then Jewell) wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886, after being healed from Christian Science treatment through prayer. Although she expressed an interest in studying with Eddy, there is no record of her doing so. The Johnsons both joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in April 1895.
