William J. Jenks (1852-1918) was born and died in Massachusetts. In 1874, he married Susan I. Jenks (b. Walker). Jenks was an electrical engineer, a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and one of the organizers of the library of that institution. He began as a telegraph operator, then was successively the manager of the Brockton plant of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company, the manager of the American Manufacturing Company headquarters in New York, the manager of the municipal department of the Edison Electric Light Company, then the Director of the Standardizing Bureau of the Edison Electric Light Company. He wrote to the Massachusetts Metaphysical College in 1886, to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
