Harriette E. Hyde (b. Clapp) (1832-1906) was born and died in Des Moines,
Polk County, Iowa. In 1852 in New York, she married Peter L. Hyde, who was a farmer
before enlisting in the Union Army in 1862. He was killed in the fighting in 1863,
leaving the widowed Harriette to raise their three children. Hyde wrote to Mary Baker
Eddy in 1886, to order a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures.
