William M. Hunter (1844-1919) was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, and
died in East Brady, Pennsylvania. He was a Presbyterian minister who was ordained in
1875 and ministered in Cross Creek, West Virginia, and later in Unionport, Ohio. In
early 1886 he received Christian Science treatment through prayer from M. B. Knowles, a
student of Bradford Sherman's. After this successful treatment he wrote to Mary Baker
Eddy asking to join a class at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College. There is no
record of him studying at the College.
