Luther B. Hunt (1836-1919) was born and died in Vermont. He was a Civil
War veteran, enlisting into the 138th Infantry in 1861 in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant,
and mustering out in 1864 as Captain of the 45th Infantry. After the war, he was a civil
servant in various public offices in Vermont, and a Mason in the Grand Lodge there. In
1877, he married Ellen P. Hunt (b. Warren). Hunt ordered a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures through Theodore F. Lane's
bookselling company in 1886.
