Pearl D. Hoyt (1843-1903) was born in Killawog, New York, and died in
Geneva, Illinois. He was a Civil War veteran, serving as a Sergeant Major in the 141st
Illinois Infantry Regiment. After the war, he worked for the Geneva Grape Sugar Co.,
producing glucose and starch. Hoyt joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in
Boston, Massachusetts, on November 7, 1899.
