Daniel M. Houser (1834-1915) was born in Maryland and died in St. Louis,
Missouri. He was a newspaper publisher who began working in the industry in 1851 at the
St. Louis Union. In 1872, along with William McKee, he
founded the
St. Louis Globe newspaper. The
Globe was consolidated with
The Daily Missouri
Democrat in 1875, becoming known as the
St. Louis
Globe-Democrat. After the merger, Houser became president and general manager
of the Globe Printing Company, publisher of the newspaper.
