Margaret "Maggie" J. Horton (b. Cook) (1854-1912) was born and died in Pennsylvania. In 1872, she married Millard F. Horton, a carpenter. By the birth of their second daughter in 1878, they were living in Portsmouth, Iowa, then they moved back to Pennsylvania about 1900. Horton wrote to Mary Baker Eddy several times between 1886 and 1888. She ordered literature, wrote that one of her daughters was healed by a practitioner named Mrs. Anderson, and asked about studying with Eddy. She was taught by Jennie B. Fenn and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in April 1895. Horton was listed as practitioner in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in The Christian Science Journal from 1903 until her death. Her faith in Christian Science was mentioned in her obituary.
