M. L. (Martin Luther) Holbrook (1831-1902) was born in Manuta, Ohio, and died in New York, New York. He was a physician, editor, and author. Holbrook was a graduate of the Ohio Agricultural College (now Ohio State University) and in 1864 became editor of The Herald of Health, a position he held until 1898. In addition to editing periodicals, he authored several books including: Parturition Without Pain, Eating for Strength, and Hygiene of Brain and Nerves.
