Amanda E. Hobbs (1845-1933) was born in New York and died in New York, New York. She became interested in Christian Science in the early 1880s after becoming acquainted with Fannie M. Silsbee. After studying the writings of Mary Baker Eddy and other Christian Science literature, she wrote to Eddy asking to study at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College. Despite Eddy offering to reduce the cost of tuition so Hobbs could attend the College, there is no record of her studying with Eddy. From the available records, it's not clear whether or not Hobbs continued her involvement with Christian Science after 1886.
