Tristram Hersey (1820-1894) was born in South Paris, Maine, and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He became interested in Christian Science during the winter of 1884 when he studied several books on metaphysical healing, including Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In April 1885, he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, asking for information on studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College.
