Nathan F. Heard (1823-1891) was born and died in Worcester, Massachusetts. He worked as a collector for Singer S. S. Machines. He also worked as a constable and bookkeeper. Heard married Amelia Spurck in Peoria, Illinois, in 1871. He wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1885, asking for information on Christian Science treatment through prayer. There is no record of Heard studying with Eddy or joining The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
