Benoni Hawkins (1844-1923) was born in Coventry, Rhode Island, and died
in Providence, Rhode Island. During the 1880s, he owned and operated a building
materials business in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. In 1896, he founded the Woonsocket
Bobbin Company, manufacturing bobbins and spools. Although he expressed an interest in
Christian Science, there is no record of him studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting
with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
