Annie M. Hathaway (1852-1889) was born in Swansea, Massachusetts, and
died in Somerset, Massachusetts. She was the first wife of Ira A. Hathaway, a carpenter
from Somerset. In 1885 she became interested in Christian Science after receiving
treatment through prayer from Delia S. Manley, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's and a
practitioner listed in the directory of
The Christian Science
Journal under Fall River, Massachusetts. Hathaway wrote to Eddy to ask for
information on studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, but there is no
record of her studying there.
