Alfred P. Hanchett (1852-1935) was born in Aurora, Illinois, and died in
Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a homeopathic physician who began practicing in Council
Bluffs in 1881. Hanchett graduated from Chicago Homeopathic Medical College (1878) and
shortly afterwards began practicing in Marengo, Illinois, before moving to Iowa. In 1885
he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy asking for information on studying at the Massachusetts
Metaphysical College. There is no record of him studying at the College.
