Mary Melissa Hall (1838-1899) was born in Genesee County, New York, and
died in Denver, Colorado. She became interested in Christian Science in 1884 after she
was healed by Roger Sherman, a Christian Science practitioner in Chicago. Later on,
Hall, along with her daughter, Minnie B. Hall DeSoto, studied Christian Science with
Bradford Sherman, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Hall joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, on January 4, 1896, and was listed periodically as a
Christian Science practitioner in the directory of
The Christian
Science Journal between 1890 and 1899.
