Hellen M. Hale (b. Cowan) (1834-1909) was born in Carroll, New York, and died in Ellery, New York. In 1858 she married Asahel D. Hale, a farmer, in Ellicott, New York. By 1865 they were living in Ellery where they remained for the rest of their lives. In 1886 Hale was sent a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by an acquaintance.
