G. de Gorrequer Griffith (c.1837-1910) was born in Rathkeale, Ireland,
and died in London, England. He was member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England
and a member of the Royal College of Physicians, who specialized in women's and
children's health. He held senior appointments at several London hospitals, including
consulting physician (Grosvenor Hospital for Women and Children) and lecturer on
midwifery (Westminster Hospital for Women). In 1880, he established Zenana Medical
College to train "Christian women" so they could serve as medical missionaries in
underdeveloped countries. At the time of his passing, he was a lecturer at Zenana
Medical College.
