Abbie W. Griffin (b. Spiller) (1848-?) was born in Haverhill,
Massachusetts, and died in an unknown location. In 1872 she married William F. Griffin,
a lawyer, who had served as a captain in the Union Army in the American Civil War. After
their marriage, the Griffins lived in Boston, Massachusetts, where they both studied
Christian Science with Emily M. Meader, who was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Abbie
joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston on December 31, 1892. She was
also a member of the Christian Science Dispensary Association and was listed in
The Christian Science Journal as a practitioner of Christian Science
from 1895 through 1921. Abbie lived in Columbus, Ohio, from 1907 until 1913 and then
moved to San Diego, California, where she lived until at least 1920.
