Ellen Gill (b. Bowden) (1847-1924) was born in Meavy, Devon, England, and
died in Chicago, Illinois. She traveled from England to New York in 1867, and by 1874
was living in Chicago, where she married Edwin H. Gill. He was variously a clerk, a
teamster, a baker, the owner of a bakery business, and then a grocer. In 1886, Gill
wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order two copies of
Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures.
