Moses Garland (1813-1887) was born in Salisbury, New Hampshire, and died in Tilton, New Hampshire. He was a former Shaker who renounced his values and married Mary E. Kingsbury in 1852. After that, he worked as a farmer in Northfield and then Tilton, New Hampshire, where he also served as sexton of Park Cemetery.
