Jefferson Gardner (1802-1888) was born in New York and died in Troy, New
York. He worked as a linen manufacturer and was instrumental in introducing the sewing
machine to the manufacturing of collars. He married Mary A. Gardner (b. Wright) in Troy
in 1824. Gardner wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 to order a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
