Anna C. Freeland (1837-1911) was born in Canterbury, New Hampshire, and
died in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was a landscape and portrait artist who founded
the Worcester Art Students Club in 1880. Freeland spent much of her time working at her
studio in Jackson, New Hampshire, as well as serving as artist-in-residence at Grey's
Inn in Jackson. She was the daughter of Mary Baker Eddy's first cousin, Mary Ann (Baker)
Chamberlain. There is no record of Freeland studying with Eddy or uniting with the
Church of Christ (Scientist).
