Electa Malvina F. Forbush (b. Ware) (1820-1898) was born in Wrentham,
Massachusetts, and died in Boston, Massachusetts. She married Edwin A. Forbush, a boot
manufacturer, in Wrentham in 1841, and they subsequently moved to Ashland,
Massachusetts. Forbush was the mother of Sarah Elizabeth Forbush Downs, who studied
Christian Science with Flavia Stickney Knapp, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, and was a
member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Downs was a
prolific and popular author of serialized romances and novels and sometimes featured
characters who were adherents of Christian Science in her works. In 1886, Forbush
indicated interest in studying with Eddy, but the records do not reflect that she
subsequently did so.
