Richard C. Flower (1850-1916) was born in Albion, Illinois, and died
Hoboken, New Jersey. He was a physician notorious for fraudulent business practices. He
graduated from the Medical University of Ohio in 1894 and then practiced in New York
City. Throughout his career he perpetrated several scams ranging from counterfeit
medicines to selling valueless mining stock. In 1914, he was imprisoned for two years,
had his sentence reduced by four months, and passed on shortly after his release.
