Ruth B. Ewing (1846-1923) was born in South New Berlin, New York, and died in Chicago, Illinois. She became interested in Christian Science in about 1884 when her husband, William G. Ewing, received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Annie V. C. Leavitt. She first studied with Ellen Brown Linscott and later with Mary Baker Eddy, completing the Primary class (1886), Normal class (1887), and Obstetrical course (1888). She joined the Christian Scientist Association in October 1886. On July 1, 1893, she joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a member until her passing. Ewing was ordained pastor of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago, and served in that role for a period of time until the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures were ordained Pastor for all Christian Science branch churches. She then became Second Reader. She was also a Christian Science practitioner and teacher listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from 1889 until her passing.
