Clarke Eddy (1820-1903) was born in Londonderry, Vermont, and died in
East Troy, Wisconsin. He was the eldest brother of Mary Baker Eddy's husband, Asa
Gilbert Eddy. In 1849, Clarke Eddy went to California and prospected for gold as part of
the California Gold Rush. When he returned to Vermont, he moved with his wife, Sarah
(1822-1922), and son, Urial (1844-1905), to East Troy, where he lived and worked as a
cabinet maker. They later also had a daughter, Helen (1853-1936).
