P00575Nellie B. Eaton (1841-1934) was born in New York and died in St. Louis,
Minnesota. She married Webster Eaton, a newspaper publisher, in 1880. In October 1886,
Eaton was a student of Josephine Curtis Woodbury's. She later became a student of Mary
Baker Eddy's, completing the Normal class in October 1887 and the Obstetrics class in
October 1888. Eaton was principal of the Lincoln Academy of Christian Science, Lincoln,
Nebraska, which she established in 1887. She was a member of the Christian Scientist
Association and became a member of the National Christian Scientist Association in 1888.
She joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on September
30, 1893. In 1902, she was elected to the Board of Directors of First Church of Christ,
Scientist, Lincoln, Nebraska, and in 1904, she was elected as a member of the General
Association of Teachers. Eaton was listed in the directory of
The
Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner and teacher in
Lincoln from 1889 to 1911. She moved to Duluth, Minnesota, in 1911 and stopped teaching
in 1929 due to ill health.
