William J. Durgin (1828-1909) was born in Sanbornton Bridge (now Tilton), New Hampshire, and died in an unknown location. He worked as a farmer and first married Clara J. Conner in 1868. After her passing in 1870, he married Abbie G. Day in Tilton in 1873. His wife's mother-in-law from her first marriage, Mary Baker Eddy's sister Abigail Tilton, left her and their daughter, Lela G. Durgin, money and items when she died in 1886. Based on the records available, we have found no further information concerning Durgin's involvement with Christian Science.
