Lela G. Durgin (1874-1952) was born in Tilton, New Hampshire, and died in Franklin, New Hampshire. She worked as a teacher and librarian and married Clarence H. Pickard, a farmer. Durgin was the daughter of William J. and Abbie G. Durgin. Her mother's mother-in-law from her first marriage, Mary Baker Eddy's sister Abigail Tilton, left Durgin money and items in her will when she died in 1886. Durgin belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church, Tilton-Northfield Garden Club, and the Tilton-Northfield Women's Club, of which she was a charter member and past president.
