Anna "Annie" F. Durant (b. Fell) (1850-1941) was born in Bloomington, Illinois, and died in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Kersey H. Fell, 1815-, was one of the first lawyers in Bloomington and, along with Annie's brother Jesse, worked on legal cases with future president Abraham Lincoln. In 1882 Annie married George F. Durant, 1842-1909, a Civil War veteran who had participated in the Battle of Gettysburg. He was the general manager of the Bell Telephone Company, later becoming vice-president. After their marriage the couple moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Sometime after George's death in 1909, Durant moved to Los Angeles, California. She was a member of the Ebell Club of Los Angeles, vice-president of the Abraham Lincoln Fellowship, and donated an extensive collection of Lincoln material to George Pepperdine College. Durant wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 to order a copy of Historical Sketch of Metaphysical Healing and inquire about her other works. She studied Christian Science with Alma S. Metcalf, joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 30, 1894, and was listed as a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal in St. Louis in 1900 and 1901.
