Sarah M. Dudley (1840-1916) was born in Carlton, Michigan, and died in
Detroit, Michigan. She was an artist and architect who drew several pastel portraits of
notable citizens of Detroit, including mayor William C. Maybury. Dudley first heard of
Christian Science after learning about the healing work of Annie M. Knott in Detroit.
She then suggested her sister, Charlotte L. Russell, contact Knott to help treat
Russell's son, Harry Palmer Russell.
