Van Ness Douglas (1846-1918) was born and died in New York. In 1873, he
married Almeda F. Douglas (b. Armstrong). Douglas taught writing in public school and
then was the manager of the Lockport Brewing Company. He was a prominent Mason and a
member of Niagara Lodge, Genesee Commandery, Ames Chapter, and Bruce Council. In 1886,
he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of
Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures.
