Haskett Derby (1835-1914) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and died in Falmouth, Maine. Derby was a graduate of Amherst College (1855) and Harvard Medical School (1858). After graduation, he went to Europe and spent four years with several leading ophthalmologists before he returned to Boston where he spent his career practicing at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
