Lucretia A. Davis (1842-1930) lived her entire life in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. She was born in Warner and died in Hopkinton. By the age of 18 she was employed as a schoolteacher and by 1870 she was working in a millinery shop. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Davis continued living in Warner until at least 1920, moving to Contoocook, a village within the town of Hopkinton, sometime before 1930. She was acquainted with Mary F. Berry, a student of Mary Baker Eddy, who practiced Christian Science in New Hampshire. In 1886 Davis wrote to Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and to inquire about becoming an agent to sell the book.
