Alice A. Culbertson (b. Alspaugh) (1845-1933) was born and died in Indiana. In 1866, she married Lucullus M. Culbertson, a hardware dealer in Knightstown. Culbertson was involved with the Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was president of the Purity Society of Henry County and was one of the first women in her county to declare support for women's suffrage. In 1886, Culbertson wrote to Mary Baker Eddy that she was reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and wanted Eddy to recommend other books for her to study. Culbertson wrote again later to order other literature.
