Charles W. Crosse (1847-1897) was born in Manchester, Massachusetts, and died in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked in real estate and married Sarah H. Crosse (b. Robbins), a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, in 1873. Crosse was also a student of Eddy's, completing the Primary class three years after Sarah in March 1886 and joining the Christian Scientist Association that June. The Crosses were members of the Church of Christ (Scientist) and special meetings were sometimes held at their home. In the spring of 1888, the Crosses and a group of students caused a split within the Christian Scientist Association over its response to the Abby Corner court case. In April 1889, they were dismissed from the Church, and they withdrew from the Christian Scientist Association in May.
