Enoch Corser

Enoch Corser (1787-1868) was born and died in Boscawen, New Hampshire. He graduated from Middlebury College in 1811. For three years he taught school in Danvers, Massachusetts. He started studying divinity in 1814 and was licensed in 1815 by the Hopkinton Association. After preaching in Middleton, Massachusetts, he was invited to the First Congregational Church in London, New Hampshire, where he was ordained as the pastor in 1817. He married Sally Orrish that same year, and they remained there until 1837. From 1837-1843 he was pastor of the Congregational Church in Sanbornton Bridge (now Tilton), New Hampshire, with which the Baker family was connected. He tutored Mary Baker Eddy and also taught at Sanbornton Academy, which Eddy attended in 1842. After Sanbornton, he preached throughout New Hampshire for the next four years. In 1857, he began preaching again in London and continued until his death.
