Kate S. Corning (1856-1918) was born in Ohio and died in Chicago,
Illinois. She married Charles S. Corning in Cuyahoga, Ohio, in 1878. Corning was a
student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the Primary class in November 1888. She was
listed as a member of the Christian Scientist Association and joined
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 1, 1893. Corning and Arthur
E. Bingham began an affair in 1896 that led to charges of mental malpractice, and the
directors of the First Church of Christ (Scientist) of Chicago voted to drop her name
from the membership of the Chicago church in 1898.
