Ralph Connable (1835-1908) was born in Bernardston, Massachusetts, and
died in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. He was a civic-minded resident of Petoskey, Michigan,
serving as postmaster from 1880-1886. Connable also owned and operated a stationers,
book store, and a wholesale fishing equipment business in Petoskey. He became interested
in Christian Science in 1884 when his wife, Mary L. Connable, received Primary class
instruction from Lois F. Selfridge. Despite this interest, there is no record of him
taking Primary class instruction.
