Charles H. Colby (1821-1906) was born in Newton, New Hampshire, and died
in Hyde Park, Massachusetts. He owned a grocery store in Hyde Park and was active in the
local Masonic lodge, having been initiated in 1851 and serving as the secretary from
1878 through 1879. Colby subscribed to early issues of
The Christian
Science Journal and his wife received treatment from a student of Mary Baker
Eddy's. Despite this, there is no record of Colby studying with Mary Baker Eddy or
uniting with the Church.
