Kate W. Clarke (1825-1908) was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and died in Chicago, Illinois. She was the older sister of Hannah A. Larminie, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. She married Matthew Clarke, a Presbyterian minister, in Crawford, Ohio, in 1853. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where her husband opened the Norfolk Mission College. Clarke was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the Normal class in October 1887. The Clarkes moved from Virginia to Chicago sometime between 1886 and 1889, and she joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 1, 1893. She became a member of the General Association of Teachers in October 1904.
