Oliver P. Clark (1852-1931) was born in Peacham, Vermont, and died in Los Angeles, California. Originally a farmer, he married Abbie N. Clark (b. Houghton) in Peacham in 1876. The Clarks followed several other family members west to Caledonia, Dakota Territory (now North Dakota), where Oliver became an abstractor and then clerk of the District Court of Traill County. Due to Abbie's illness, the Clarks briefly moved back to Peacham, where she died in 1887. Oliver returned to Caledonia. He married Evelyn A. Clark (b. Corliss) in 1890, and in 1895 they moved to Boulder, Colorado, where Oliver served as the city clerk for twelve years. In 1918 the Clarks moved to California, first to San Diego, then to Long Beach, and finally to Los Angeles, where they engaged in property investment and lived the rest of their lives. In June 1886 Oliver wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Based on the records available, we have found no further information concerning his involvement with Christian Science.
