Jennie J. Churchill (b. Crowell) (1858-1926) was born in Portland, Maine, and died in Kennebec, Maine. In 1885 she married Joseph L. Churchill, of Portland, who owned a dry goods store and later a button manufacturing company. The Churchills both took the Primary class with Mary Baker Eddy in January 1887, became members of the Christian Scientist Association and the National Christian Scientist Association in 1887, and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1893. Their daughter, Jessie N. Thompson (b. Churchill), also joined the church in 1903. Jennie became a practitioner and then a teacher of Christian Science and was listed in The Christian Science Journal from 1894 until her passing. She was one of the founders of the Portland Christian Science Church and served as its First Reader from 1900 through 1902.
