Louise A. Chipman (also known as Louise A. Tompkins) (1845-1933) was born
in Portland, Maine, and died in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a student of Mary Baker
Eddy's, studying with her in November 1883. Chipman joined the Christian Scientist
Association in January 1884, and there is no record of her uniting with the Church of
Christ (Scientist). Her involvement with Christian Science ended in the summer of 1885
when she withdrew amicably from the Association.
