
Theodore T. Chave (1868-1934) was born in New York, New York, and died in
Boise, Idaho. Chave first studied at the Methodist college of Denver University,
followed by Harvard University from 1887 to 1890. He moved to Boise in 1891 and worked
as a professor. In 1909, he married Bona V. Chave (b. Ridgeway) in Chicago, Illinois.
His father, Archibald L. Chave, studied Christian Science with John F. and Ellen Brown
Linscott in Chicago. Chave first studied Christian Science with Minnie B. Hall De Soto
in Denver in 1886 and united with the Church of Christ (Scientist) in January 1888. He
had three articles published in
The Christian Science Journal:
"The Pauline View of the Resurrection" (November 1886), "The Miracle at the Beautiful
Gate" (January 1888) and "In the Name of Jesus" (February 1888). In October 1888, he
wrote to Mary Baker Eddy that he was dissatisfied with the church and wished to leave.
He was soon granted a dismissal. At the time of his death, he was a member of the
Masonic Lodge at Waukesha, Wisconsin, and a member of the Episcopal Church.
