George W. Chase (1857-1921) was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and
died in Raymond, Maine. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in
early 1879. He was active in the Christian Scientist Association and early Church until
his withdrawal from both in June 1882. After his withdrawal, he briefly practiced as a
healer in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1884, he moved to
Portland, Maine, where he continued to live and work as a healer until his death.
